“I should cite tenor Marcel d’Entremont as a first among equals for his commanding voice and near perfect diction.”

I was most impressed by the riveting, virtuosic performance of tenor Marcel d’Entremont as Rodolfo. d’Entremont enchants from his first note, full of warmth and depth as he moves seamlessly between vocal registers. His Act I aria, in which he formally introduces himself to Mimì, demonstrates his command of Puccini’s difficult writing, soaring effortlessly into a euphoric lovesick climax. Equally as impressive, however, is d’Entremont’s ability to support his vocal partners, never overpowering, always finding the suitable harmony to allow the music to truly sing. His is a voice opera audiences will surely celebrate for many years.

“Of the soloists, I was impressed by the clarion tenor of Marcel d’Entremont. Last evening, his aria “If with all your hearts” was a pleasure.”

“As Edgardo, tenor Marcel d’Entremont gave the most polished and stylistic performance of the evening.”

Matthew Timmermans, Opera Canada

“Appearing as Rudolfo, Nova Scotia native Marcel d’Entremont ably inhabits one of the two principal Puccini-Ivany linked personas that lie at the opera’s core. Effortlessly embodying all the vulnerability, all the romance, all the fallibility that is the endearingly awkward hipster, the fine rising young tenor enchants. This is a performance of immense artistry, d’Entremont’s voice tipped with a clear ringing top descending to a mellow mid to low range, his stage presence graced with enormous heart.”

“The tenor was superb delineating the four voices- the son, the father, the Erlkönig, and the narrator. It was as good as any I’ve heard… d’Entremont was virtually perfect in his performance.”

“A surprise: it’s the young Canadian tenor Marcel d’Entremont… who debuts for the first time in his career here in Rouen in the important role of Don Ottavio, which he portrays very aptly and whose candour is expressed though the roundness of an honest voice with singing of great finesse that makes one think of Anton Dermota or Nicolai Gedda! … He is on the cusp of an exciting career path… and is destined for a great future as a Mozartian tenor!”

“Marcel d'Entremont gives a particular depth to his Don Ottavio, a character usually rather weak, thanks to his beautiful, full, and powerful voice, capable of delicate nuances.”

“I feel the need to shout out tenor Marcel d’Entremont, who plays Nosn. For his age, he seems to have an incredibly balanced voice- and the high end of his range is utterly thrilling.”
